About Us
About Santos Haven
Santos Haven was started as a Rotary project as far back as 1985. From the initial 50 cottages built in 1986, we have grown to 208 units/cottages with 2 Service Centres. The units/cottages consist of one-bedroom houses without a garage, one-bedroom units with a garage and two-bedroom units with a garage, many of which have since been modified. Our Community centres offer kitchen, dining room, community room, conference facilities, lounges and library while at the second phase there is a hairdresser. The 2 Sick Bays allows for 52 Sick Bay beds. The Frail Care Centre (Assisted Living) has 16 flats.
At present we are the flagship for retirement villages in the Southern Cape, being financially secure and expertly managed. Our success is clear from the long waiting list that we have of nationwide applicants.
SANTOS HAVEN is a Non- Profit Organisation with the Registration number 003/724 NPO.
Our Management
Santos Haven is a Retirement Village that works on a Liferight system. The structure of Santos Haven is that of a Body Corporate and we are a Non-Profit Organization.
The Executive Committee embodies 10 Committee members of which 6 are Rotarians and 4 are elected Residents. The Committee meets the last Thursday of each month where decisions are taken including the allocation of vacant houses and the approvals of applications to the waiting list.
The day-to-day management of Santos Haven is in the hands of the Manager. Our Chairperson Fiona Williamson represents the Rotary. A modern office with wonderful friendly and helpful ladies sees to all calls and administration.
A nursing manager is in charge of all the nursing personnel and frail care centers. This includes the assisted living quarters. Santos Haven operates a ‘panic button’ system where residents carry a panic button and press it whenever they need assistance. A qualified staff member of the frail care team will attend to the call as soon as possible.
The Annual General Meeting is normally held on the last Wednesday in June each year.
